We are relaunching our e-journals and e-books system and seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Implementation Manager to join the global Thieme Science Business Unit. You will act as the linchpin between publishing and technical teams, ensuring that the relaunched system is delivered on time, within scope, and to the satisfaction of users and stakeholders. 


You are passionate about Open Access and develop author-oriented services and solutions. You want to play an active role facilitating our Thieme Science strategy. You utilize a very "hands-on" approach and drive change in a rapidly developing publishing landscape leveraging strong interpersonal skills. You have a customer centric mindset and consider yourself a problem solver with agile experience.

Your new passion

  • Implementation Management: In coordination with the team and the Product Manager you will work on the relaunch and further development of our journals product and content distribution platform as well as the platform storing metadata points  
  • Project Planning: You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, resource allocation and timeline management 
  • Stakeholder Management: You will be the primary contact for all stakeholders, including publishing teams, production, operations, the UI/UX team, IT and the external and internal software developers, managing expectations 
  • Technical Deployment: You will oversee the technical development and rollout, coordinate with IT, internal and external developers 
  • Documentation and Reporting: You will maintain documentation of the implementation progress, including project plans and status reports 
  • Continuous Improvement: After the initial relaunch phase you will gather feedback, conduct reviews and drive improvements 
  • Marketing Coordination: You support journal promotion and engagement activities 

You inspire us with this

  • A strong dedication for Scientific publishing in general and open access publishing in particular 
  • Experienced project leader with track record heading complex cross-functional projects with international stakeholders for 3 years+ in an agile project environment 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience 
  • 3 years proven academic publishing experience 
  • In-depth knowledge of the scientific community and the STM journal business 
  • A data-driven and customer-centric mindset 
  • Ability to comprehend business needs and translate them into product requirements 
  • Tolerance for ambiguity, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with a large variety of personalities at all levels of business 
  • Strong analytical skills, including expertise to present research and analysis 
  • International and cultural sensitivity as well as working experience in an international business or environment
