Your new passion
- Negotiate SLAs with external service vendors within the defined organizational framework, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Monitor vendor and internal performance against SLAs, addressing any deviations to maintain high service quality and efficiency.
- Oversee the provision of JEO services, managing both commercial (P&L) and quality aspects to meet organizational goals.
- Define the JEO service menu in line with Thieme’s business expectations and advocate for it internally and externally.
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for JEO operations to align with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors regarding JEO service provision, ensuring effective communication and addressing concerns.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and service quality.
- Facilitate collaboration between internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment and ensure smooth operational workflows.
- Implement policies related to JEO activities, including those focused on Research Integrity and Ethics.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational guidelines across all JEO operations.
- Develop and deliver training materials and programs on JEO policies, systems, and processes for internal staff and external partners.
- Communicate updates, best practices, and policy changes through the most appropriate channels to ensure consistent understanding and adherence.
- Evaluate current editorial workflows to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
- Track and report key performance metrics related to JEO service provision and implementation projects.
- Gather feedback from stakeholders to refine and improve implemented processes continuously.
You inspire us with this
- Educated to a degree level
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
- 5+ years of experience in editorial operations, project management, or STM publishing
- Proficiency in editorial systems (e.g. ScholarOne)
- Demonstrable success in managing complex, cross-functional projectsÂ
- Knowledge of the scientific community and its needs
- In-depth knowledge of editorial office functions from submission to acceptance
- Ability to quickly understand different and adapt to new processes, systems, their dependencies, and interaction
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail and a hands-on attitude
- Self-starting, high degree of independence
- Flexibility to respond to non-routine circumstances
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and executives.
- Proficient in using multiple systems incl. Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- International and cultural sensitivity with experience in an international business or environment
