Your new passion
- Strategic Sales Leadership: You will develop and execute mid- and long-term sales strategies for our Journals in the DACH region, driving significant growth in our academic and corporate business while meeting annual sales targets.
- Full-Cycle Sales Management: With your deep understanding of the institutional sales cycle and passion for closing deals, you will lead the entire sales process – from initial contact to final agreement.
- Contract Negotiation & Deal Structuring: You will negotiate Read & Publish and Open Access agreements with academic institutions and build long-term relationships with universities, consortia, and research libraries that align with client needs and organizational objectives.
- Relationship Building & Account Management: Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key decision-makers including librarians, research administrators, and consortium representatives to ensure long-term partnership success and identify expansion opportunities.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy: You analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and develop sales approaches tailored to the needs of the DACH market in close collaboration and alignment with journal product and marketing teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement: As a confident communicator, you represent our portfolio at industry events, library consortia meetings, and client negotiations, articulating our value proposition to diverse stakeholders.
- Sales management: Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting and reporting in CRM systems, providing regular updates on sales activities, opportunities, and market insights to leadership.
You inspire us with this
- A university degree or equivalent qualification
- At least 5 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally in scholarly publishing, EdTech, or research servicesÂ
- Proven success in negotiating and closing high-value, multi-stakeholder agreements (€100K+) with long sales cycles, particularly within academic or institutional environments
- Experience with in selling solutions and services and deep understanding of the academic publishing ecosystem, including Open Access models, transformative agreements, library consortia structures, and institutional procurement processes
- Strong communication and negotiation skills at decision-maker levelÂ
- Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft OfficeÂ
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and self-motivationÂ
- Willingness to travel across the DACH region (approx. 30%)Â
- Native-level German and Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
