With the next possible date, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Project Manager Business Development to join the global Thieme science business unit.
Responsibilities
- Product framework - Work with global product teams (journal publishing, sales) and other stakeholders collecting demands and input to feed into business framework and process standards. Identify and unearth root cause(s) of pain points and validate business opportunities and problems.
- Project and implementation management - Act as project manager for a variety of initiatives across the science article value stream. Manage these cross-functional projects against set timelines and deliverables.
- Communication - Create reports and overviews/presentations/ documentation for internal and external use according to determined frameworks and standards. Confidentially present and discuss defined policies/ processes with customers and key stakeholders.
- Process orientated mindset - End-to-end value-stream mapping, maintaining and analysis of global science article value stream (incl. open access). Oversee, coordinate, monitor and optimize existing policies, processes to ensure high-quality author service and revenue growth.
- Performance monitoring -Â Understand how to interpret/ read the key performance KPIs and suggest action plans accordingly. Undertake the collection of data, the preparation of analyses on business and service performance.
- Customer centric mindset / compliance -Â Collect and study industry mandates/ general needs, feedback from customers, and stakeholders to shape policy and requirements and identify areas of action and improvement. Act as second line query support for open access related matters and ensure documentation for first-line support is created, deployed, and updated.
- Global stakeholders - Close, coordinated collaboration with Science Journal Publishing teams located in Stuttgart, London, New York, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, New Delhi, and Beijing as well as with colleagues in Production, Marketing, Institutional Sales etc.
Qualifications
- Effective project management and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
- Ability to quickly understand different workflows, systems, their dependencies, and interaction
- Strong analytical, and presentation skills, combined with attention to detail and a hands-on attitude
- Resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queries and suggesting new approaches
- Proven ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work on different projects simultaneously
- Experience of working effectively with a range of stakeholders to successfully support projects or initiatives
- International and cultural sensitivity as well as working experience in an international business or environment
- Flexibility to travel when needed
