We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Product Manager to join the global Thieme Science Business Unit. 

You want to play an active role facilitating our Thieme Science Strategy "Commit to Open Access". You utilize a very "hands-on" approach and drive change in a rapidly developing publishing landscape leveraging strong interpersonal skills. You have a customer centric mindset and consider yourself a problem solver with agile experience. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated individual to be part of a strategically relevant team and shape Thieme's online publishing activities.

Responsibilities

  • You are passionate about Open Access and develop author-oriented services and solutions.
  • You are responsible for the modernization and further development of our eJournals and eBooks platform in technical, professional and business matters.
  • You take over the project management for the redesign and ensure the accessibility of the journal product pages (EU guidelines, WCAG, VPAT).¬†
  • You define responsibilities, processes and standards and ensure that they are adhered.
  • You work closely with internal stakeholders from sales, marketing, publishing, CX/UX, and IT.¬†
  • Working with the product owner, you will manage the external software development partner.¬†
  • You monitor the market and evaluate existing and new initiatives in terms of their usefulness and feasibility.¬†

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience¬†
  • 3 years proven academic and open access publishing experience¬†
  • A strong dedication for open access publishing¬†
  • Experienced project leader with track record heading complex cross-functional projects with international stakeholders for 3 years+¬†
  • In-depth knowledge of STM journal business¬†
  • Thorough knowledge of the scientific community and its needs¬†
  • Highly customer and service oriented¬†
  • Ability to comprehend business needs and translate them into product requirements¬†
  • Tolerance for ambiguity, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with a large variety of personalities at all levels of business¬†
  • Strong analytical skills, including expertise to present research and analysis¬†
  • International and cultural sensitivity as well as working experience in an international business or environment¬†
  • Fluent in in English (both written and spoken); German or another language would be a bonus¬†
